Dive Brief:
- User adoption is an often overlooked aspect of change management during an ERP system update, Lauri Klaus, CEO of ERP provider, KeyedIn Manufacturing, says to EnterpriseAppsTech news. She urges managers to step back into the role of employees and their day to day experience.
- Never assume that all employees will be present and able to learn a new software simultaneously, Klaus warns. Create open forums and a supportive environment so that employees can overcome any obstacles and resistance to change.
- Promoting the benefits of the new software to all employees often helps to increase user engagement.
Dive Insight:
It's a given whenever a new system or software is introduced to a company that there will be initial push-back and a reluctance to try it from employees. In order to smooth things over, management teams must work closely with employees to provide them with the learning tools and resources to get accustomed to a new way of doing things.
One-off training sessions, long classroom sessions, and online training alone will not accomplish this, nor can they take the place of human interaction from managers. All managers need to become experts so they can pass this along to employees and increase user adoption.
