Various reports indicate that hiring is slowing down moving further into 2025 — but there will always be roles that need filling.
As such, more employers are considering hiring for skills or “promise” first, rather than explicitly for certain experience, especially as demand for talent with artificial intelligence-related skills outstrips supply. Employers are also considering changing their hiring processes to include fewer restrictions.
But employers have historically struggled to adapt to a skills-first hiring model, with one report stating that many had made the shift in “in name only.” The somewhat heavy changes required for such a model may trigger employers to give up midway through the process, the report noted.
