Dive Brief:
- It's no secret that there are serious shortages of talent in the technology market, a problem that recruitment professionals have faced in the last 5 years. Technology has grown at such a rapid pace that it's difficult to find quality candidates to fill a constant need for new employees. Job search Indeed recently rolled out the results of it's analysis of search traffic for the most in-demand tech talent.
- Indeed found that the number one most advertised tech job, ranked by international employer demand, included engineering managers. Front-end developers were a close second.
- According to Indeed's findings, DevOps engineers and full stack developers were in the #3 and #4 spots, and were the jobs experiencing the overall fastest growth between 2015 and 2016.
Dive Insight:
Competition for the best tech talent is not going away anytime soon. The Indeed numbers prove this. In order to attract tech candidates, Indeed mentioned that a generous compensation strategy along with work flexibility should be leveraged.
It's also critical to consider that the size and reputation of tech firms often dictate the quality and number of tech applicants — simply for resume and career building purposes. For example, more people want to work for Google or other big companies in Silicon Valley than an unknown startup. Nothing was mentioned about internships, which are also aiding companies in attracting technical talent.
