Dive Brief:
- Starting today, employers subject to California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) have some new regulations to consider from the state's Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH).
- The changes are meant to clarify existing employer obligations to take reasonable steps to prevent/correct discrimination or harassment in the workplace, according to Kantola Training Solutions.
- The regulations include mandated training for all supervisory personnel in specific areas, either delivered as a standalone e-learning or video training can be used to satisfy this specific requirement.
Dive Insight:
Kantola’s CEO Allen Noren explains that the new regulations do not alter existing law. Even so, to help accelerate California employers in complying, Kantola has made resources available in the form of a downloadable brochure they can distribute to managers, supervisors, and employees.
The Kantola brochure includes details about new requirements for organizational policies and investigations, according to Noren. He adds that as an added precaution, it's also recommended to train all non-supervisory employees, as well.
