REI has hired Apple Musni as chief people officer, the company announced March 16. She previously served as vice president, field people experience and recruiting at Chipotle.
Musni will lead the teams that shape REI’s compensation and benefits offerings, employee experience efforts, talent strategies, racial equity commitments and more, according to the announcement.
“Apple brings a breadth of experience in retail and customer service, and a strong point of view about how a progressive company with a strong ethos infuses its values through its people strategy," said Eric Artz, REI president and CEO, in a press release.
Musni said in a statement that she has long admired the company for its values, adding that “[a]nyone who works in HR knows that REI is the gold standard for how it invests in and cares for its employees."
Musni, who also has held HR and operational roles at McDonald’s and Target, assumed the role Monday.
