Pundits at first thought that it would take days or longer for The Associated Press to call the result of the 2024 presidential election due to the close-running polls — but AP made the call a little after 5 a.m. EST on Wednesday, declaring former President Donald Trump the winner.
Republicans also gained control of the U.S. Senate, while news of the control of the U.S. House of Representatives waits on multiple close races to be called. Regardless, employers can expect a wide swath of changes as the executive branch swaps to a GOP agenda.
