Dive Brief:

- The platform, called Z2, launches as Zenefits is emerging from the aftermath of the health insurance broker licensing controversy that plagued the company earlier this year.
- This move is one of the first real strategic, wide releases for the company under new CEO David Sacks.
Dive Insight:
Zenefits has had an interesting year, to say the least. After struggling with revenue goals at the end of 2015 and ousting the original CEO, Parker Conrad, in February, it's had to overcome large compliance issues in various states — usually by paying hefty fines.
But its new offering reveals the company is ready to impress the SMB HR market, thanks to its completely redesigned platform. All-in-one software options are particularly useful for smaller businesses with one-person HR departments, as HR process tech has largely been dominated by legacy providers for some time. Silicon Valley innovation has lead to companies like Zenefits, Flock and Gusto, which have all met varied degrees of success so far.
