Women in tech are thriving, with 88% expressing their love for the industry and only 2% of women are considering leaving, despite ongoing gender challenges and tough economic conditions.
The findings, contained in a report from AND Digital, also revealed that women in leadership positions are excelling, with 83% of respondents believing they have succeeded in their roles.
82% agree that their organization have supported their growth by fostering a culture that supports work-life balance for senior employees, indicating that companies are making strides toward creating environments where female leaders can thrive.
The report, entitled Doing it for themselves: How women are rewriting the rules of leadership saw 310 female technology leaders in the US discuss the challenges and opportunities they face in their day-to-day roles.
Despite an impressive 82% of respondents saying they have the skills required to progress in their tech careers, barriers still persist with 73% of women saying their organization could do more to improve the workplace for female leaders.
Mentorship and representation remain a key concern with nearly half (45%) of women aspiring to become mentors for other women in the tech industry to create a supportive network. However, two in five women believe there are insufficient mentorship or networking opportunities tailored to their needs. Many have called for increased women-to-women coaching, mentorship, and greater female representation in leadership roles.
Linda Benjamin, VP, AND Digital said: “It is a pivotal moment for women in tech and it is incredibly encouraging to see so many women in the industry are not only thriving, but also deeply passionate about their roles. Women love tech, and this is a testament to the dedication and resilience of women who are shaping the future of the sector.”
“These findings should serve as a clear message to CEOs and business leaders that their efforts to build diverse teams are paying off. Creating an environment that supports women in leadership not only fosters inclusion but also contributes directly to business success, driving productivity and profitability.”
“However, there is still a long way to go. There is an ongoing concern about mentorship and networking opportunities which underscores there is still work to do. Addressing these gaps in support, especially with tailored mentorship opportunities, is critical for empowering the next generation of female leaders in tech and ensuring greater representation and providing women with the tools to mentor and lead will not only help individuals thrive but also improve the industry as a whole.”
